Casino payment methods in Latvia: Trustly, banks, cards, Paysera and crypto

The payment method you pick decides how fast your money arrives and, sometimes, whether you get the bonus at all. For Latvian-licensed casinos the choice is easy; for foreign sites the rules are different. Here is how I would match each method to each need.

The short answer

If you play at a Latvian-licensed casino, my default choice is Trustly or a direct bank link. They are quick in both directions, they need no extra account, and they are what the fastest payout times on this site are based on. Cards are a good second choice for deposits. E-wallets suit players who want to keep casino money separate from their main account. Crypto only comes into play at the four foreign sites, where Latvian banks are not an option.

  • Fastest withdrawals: Trustly at a licensed site.
  • Simplest deposit: bank link or Visa/Mastercard.
  • Separate casino budget: Skrill, Neteller or Paysera where offered.
  • Foreign sites: cards, e-wallets or crypto.

The split between those two worlds is not about technology but about licensing. A casino licensed in Latvia works with Latvian banks and payment providers; a site on the VID blocked list cannot. If the licence side is new to you, my guide to the Latvian casino licence explains how the system fits together.

Trustly is an open banking service: you choose your bank, log in with your usual internet bank credentials, approve the payment, and the money moves straight from your account to the casino. Nothing needs to be installed and no card details are shared. All the major Latvian banks work with it, Swedbank, SEB, Citadele and Luminor included.

Its real strength is in the other direction. Most of the stated payout times on this site, from under 4 hours at X3000 to under 6 hours at Tonybet and Optibet, are quoted for Trustly. Withdrawals go back to the same bank account, which also makes the verification side easier, because the casino can see the account belongs to you.

One thing to keep in mind: the stated time is the casino's side of the process. Once the casino approves a withdrawal, Trustly pushes it to your bank, and an instant payment usually arrives within minutes. Where a bank does not process it instantly, or the request lands late on a Friday, it can sit until the next working day. That is not the casino being slow, and it is worth knowing before you start counting hours.

Some licensed casinos also offer direct bank link payments from the same four banks, which work in a very similar way. For the mechanics in more detail, the Trustly page on latvijas-kazino.eu is a good explainer. Among the operators I review, the X3000 casino review and the Optibet review show what Trustly-based payouts look like at the top of the market.

Visa and Mastercard

Cards are accepted almost everywhere and deposits are instant. For many players that is enough, and I have no objection to cards as a deposit method.

Withdrawals are where cards lose ground. A payout to a card goes through the card network and the issuing bank, which typically adds time compared with Trustly. Some casinos also pay card deposits back to a bank account instead, which means another verification step. If you care about getting money out quickly, I would deposit with the method you plan to withdraw to, and at a Latvian-licensed site that usually means Trustly or a bank link rather than a card.

A second point is that some banks treat gambling card transactions with extra caution, and a card deposit may be declined or need additional confirmation in your banking app. If that happens, switching to Trustly or a bank link is usually the quickest fix at a licensed site.

At the foreign sites, cards are one of the main routes in, alongside e-wallets and crypto.

Paysera

Paysera is an e-money account popular in the Baltics, with an IBAN, a card and a mobile app. Players use it as a buffer between their main bank and the casino: you top up the Paysera account, pay the casino from it, and keep gambling transactions out of your everyday account.

Not every licensed casino lists it in the cashier, so check the payment page before you sign up if Paysera is your preferred route. Where it is offered, it behaves much like a bank transfer. The Paysera guide on latvijas-kazino.eu goes into fees and limits.

Skrill and Neteller

Skrill and Neteller are the classic casino e-wallets. They are fast, they keep your bank details away from the casino, and withdrawals to them are often processed quickly once your account is verified.

The other side of the coin is that money in an e-wallet is one step away from your bank. Withdrawing from the casino to Skrill is quick, but moving it on to your Latvian account is a second transfer, with its own fees and timing set by the wallet provider. For players who keep a balance in the wallet anyway, that is no problem; for everyone else, Trustly is simply more direct.

The catch is on the bonus side. Many casinos exclude e-wallet deposits from the welcome offer, so a deposit made with Skrill or Neteller may not trigger the bonus at all. If you plan to claim one, read the payment exclusions in the bonus terms first, and look at my casino bonus guide for the rest of the conditions.

Crypto: foreign sites only

None of the twelve Latvian-licensed casinos accepts crypto. It is a feature of the four foreign sites, Monro, Lex, Drip and 1GO, which also run 50+ dedicated crypto games.

There is a structural reason why crypto matters there. Galaktika N.V., the Curaçao company behind all four, is on the VID list of companies that Latvian banks and payment institutions may not serve. That rules out Trustly and Latvian bank links, so deposits go through cards, international e-wallets or crypto. For a player who already holds crypto, deposits and withdrawals are quick and independent of banking hours. For one who does not, buying coins adds a step and exposes the balance to price swings. The Lex Casino review and the Drip Casino review describe the crypto side of each site, and the cryptocurrency payments page on latvijas-kazino.eu covers the basics.

Verification (KYC) before the first payout

Every licensed casino has to confirm who you are before it pays out, and the foreign sites do the same, often at the first withdrawal. The usual requests are:

  • a photo of your passport or ID card;
  • proof of address, such as a recent utility bill or bank statement;
  • proof that the payment method is yours, for example a card photo with the middle digits covered or a bank statement.

Two details tend to slow things down. Documents must be readable in full, with all four corners visible and no glare, and the name and address must match your casino account exactly. A proof of address older than a few months is usually rejected, so use a recent one. If you change your payment method later, expect the casino to ask for proof of the new one as well.

My advice is to complete this right after registering, before you ever need a withdrawal. Verification is the most common reason a first payout is slower than the stated time, and doing it early removes that delay. Trustly and bank links help here too, because the account holder's name comes with the payment. More on this in my guide to fast withdrawals.

Minimum deposits at all 16 casinos

Most Latvian-licensed casinos start at €10. Two go lower, and the foreign sites ask for more.

CasinoMinimum depositLicence
Joker.lv€5Latvia
Laimz€5Latvia
X3000€10Latvia
Optibet€10Latvia
11.lv€10Latvia
Tonybet€10Latvia
OlyBet€10Latvia
Klondaika€10Latvia
Spēlēt€10Latvia
Betsafe€10Latvia
LVBet€10Latvia
Fenikss€10Latvia
Lex€20Curaçao
Drip€20Curaçao
Monro€20Curaçao
1GO€20Curaçao

A low minimum is useful for trying a site, but remember that the welcome bonus is a percentage of what you deposit. At €5 you get a €5 bonus, so the €5 option at the Laimz casino review or the Joker.lv review is about exploring, not about unlocking the full offer.

Which method for which need

Putting it together, this is how I would choose.

  1. You want your winnings fast: a Latvian-licensed casino with Trustly. X3000 states under 4 hours, Tonybet and Optibet under 6.
  2. You want to deposit in seconds and think about withdrawals later: a card or a bank link, but plan to withdraw by Trustly or bank transfer.
  3. You want to keep casino spending separate: Paysera or an e-wallet, after checking that it does not cancel the bonus.
  4. You play on a foreign site: crypto if you already hold it, a card or e-wallet if not.
  5. You are on a tight budget: Joker.lv or Laimz at €5.

Whatever you pick, use the same method in and out where possible, verify early, and the payment side becomes the least interesting part of playing online.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best payment method at Latvian online casinos?

For licensed sites, Trustly. It works with Swedbank, SEB, Citadele and Luminor, and the fastest stated payout times, such as X3000's under 4 hours, are based on it.

Can I use Trustly at foreign casinos?

No. Their operator is on the VID list of companies Latvian banks and payment institutions may not serve, so the foreign sites rely on cards, e-wallets and crypto.

Which casinos have the lowest minimum deposit?

Joker.lv and Laimz at €5. The other licensed sites start at €10 and the four foreign sites at €20.

Do Latvian-licensed casinos accept crypto?

No. Crypto deposits are only available at the foreign sites Monro, Lex, Drip and 1GO.

Why was my first withdrawal slow?

The most common reason is identity verification on the first payout. Uploading your documents straight after registering usually avoids the delay.

Do e-wallet deposits qualify for the welcome bonus?

Not always. Many casinos exclude Skrill and Neteller deposits from bonuses, so check the payment exclusions in the bonus terms first.
